Budget Prague for three days and two nights: three worked examples in Czech crowns, official 2026 transport and attraction fees, and ways to save.
Prague can be a good-value European city break, but actual spending depends on travel dates, accommodation and paid attractions. These are transparent three-day, two-night planning examples, calculated in Czech crowns (CZK). Flights are not included: their cost depends heavily on your origin and travel dates. The accommodation and food figures are illustrative inputs, not measured average prices or quotes.

Quick answer: three example budgets
| Travel style | Two nights' accommodation per person | Food, 3 days | Transport | Sights | Total per person |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget solo hostel bed | 1,500 CZK | 1,500 CZK | 340 CZK | 450 CZK | 3,790 CZK |
| Mid-range room shared by two | 2,200 CZK | 2,100 CZK | 340 CZK | 800 CZK | 5,440 CZK |
| Comfortable room shared by two | 3,500 CZK | 3,000 CZK | 340 CZK | 800 CZK | 7,640 CZK |
Assumptions: a hostel bed at 750 CZK/night, or a room at 2,200/3,500 CZK per night shared by two; food at 500/700/1,000 CZK per person per day. Accommodation and meal figures are hypothetical planning inputs, not verified live offers. Each traveller buys one official 2026 72-hour app ticket for 340 CZK. The budget example includes the Prague Castle basic circuit (450 CZK); the other examples also include the Old Town Hall tower (350 CZK). Flights, accommodation taxes, shopping and extra drinks are excluded.
Verified 2026 transport and attraction prices
According to Prague Integrated Transport's tariff effective from 1 January 2026, adult Prague tickets through the Lítačka app cost 36 CZK for 30 minutes, 46 CZK for 90 minutes, 140 CZK for 24 hours and 340 CZK for 72 hours. Corresponding paper fares are 39, 50, 150 and 350 CZK.
Prague City Tourism lists the basic Prague Castle circuit at 450 CZK for adults and the Old Town Hall tower at 350 CZK. Different concessions and visitor passes may apply. These are official 2026 prices; 2027 admission and meal prices have not been confirmed by this article.
Where should you stay to control spending?
Accommodation matters more than shaving a few crowns from a tram ride. Look at Vinohrady, Karlín and Nové Město as well as Old Town, comparing the total price for the same dates, room occupancy, cancellation rules and taxes.
Prague's historic centre is walkable, and public transport makes it straightforward to stay a little farther from the main square. Pair this budget guide with our Prague attractions and three-day itinerary.
Food costs: build a budget around your choices
Allow a separate amount for breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffee. The table's 500–1,000 CZK per day represents different personal spending plans, not a claim about the city's average restaurant bill. Check displayed menus and any service charges, especially in heavily visited streets.
A hotel breakfast may reduce daily spending; a special dinner can increase it significantly. Comparing similar meals in nearby neighbourhoods is more useful than relying on a single citywide price estimate.
A three-day plan with predictable costs
Day 1: Explore Old Town Square, the astronomical clock from outside, Charles Bridge and the riverbanks. Many of the best street-level views cost nothing.
Day 2: Visit Prague Castle's paid basic circuit, then walk through Hradčany and Malá Strana. Account for the verified 450 CZK ticket.
Day 3: Choose a leisurely neighbourhood day around Karlín, Vinohrady or Vyšehrad, or add the 350 CZK Old Town Hall tower ticket. You do not need a paid day trip to enjoy a full city break.

Currency, timing and hidden extras
Prague uses Czech crowns, not euros. Check your card's exchange fees, cash withdrawal charges and the current exchange rate before converting this budget into your own currency. Avoid accepting a poor automatic currency conversion without checking the alternative.
A three-day trip in this calculation means two nights; adding a third night changes the total. Weekend demand, school holidays, breakfast, baggage and travel insurance can also alter the final bill.
