Forget unnecessary stuff and pack only the essentials. We've compiled a universal packing list that works for every trip.
Efficient packing is a skill that every traveler can learn. The key is to minimize items and maximize usability. A good rule of thumb: if you didn't use it on your last trip, leave it at home. Minimalist packing reduces stress, speeds up travel, and saves money on checked baggage fees.
Packing clothes: Choose multi-functional clothes in neutral colors that are easy to mix and match. Merino wool tops are excellent as they are breathable, odor-resistant, and dry quickly. Use the capsule wardrobe principle: 3–4 tops, 2 bottoms, 1 jacket, comfortable walking shoes.
Packing techniques: Roll clothes instead of folding them — you'll save space and avoid wrinkles. Pack the heaviest items at the bottom of the bag and use packing organizers or cubes to keep things in order. Fill the inside of your shoes with socks to save space.

Technology: A phone, charger, and power bank are essential. An adapter/converter is important if you're traveling outside of Europe. Consider an e-reader instead of books — you'll save space and weight. Wireless headphones significantly improve the travel experience.
Toiletries: Pack only travel-sized products (under 100ml for flights) or buy them at your destination. An all-purpose soap works for showering, laundry, and hand washing. A toothbrush, deodorant, and skincare are enough — hotels often provide shampoo and conditioner.
Documents and safety: Passport, travel insurance card, copies of important documents (electronically in a cloud service and on paper in a separate place from the originals). Download offline maps to your phone before you leave. Store some currency and a backup credit card in a different place than your main funds.

Carry-on luggage: Keep all valuables, one change of clothes, toiletries, and medications with you on the flight. If your bag gets lost, you'll be fine for a couple of days. Also, pack an empty water bottle, snacks, and entertainment for long flights.
What to leave at home: Too many 'just in case' clothes, valuable jewelry, large books, multiple pairs of shoes, full-sized toiletries, and unnecessary gadgets. If you're hesitant, leave it out — you can always buy it at your destination if needed.
Final check: Make a packing list well in advance and check the weather at your destination. Weigh your bag at home and leave room for souvenirs. Put the jackets and shoes you'll need first on top of the bag at night — you'll pack them last.
